Mangmoom Card - Using EMV Contactless for Bangkok MRT

Guide to using Mangmoom Card and EMV Contactless for MRT Blue and Purple lines, including registration, top-up, and FAQ.

1. What is an EMV Contactless card?

An EMV Contactless card is a smart electronic payment card following Europay, VISA, and Mastercard standards. There are three types: Credit, Debit, and Prepaid. Contactless technology allows for secure, touch-free payments.

2. Which EMV Contactless cards can be used at MRT automatic gates?

VISA and Mastercard credit or prepaid cards with the contactless symbol (4 horizontal waves) on the front or back can be used by tapping at the entry and exit gates.

3. Can debit cards be used at MRT automatic gates?

Currently, debit cards from Krungthai Bank and UOB are accepted. Other banks are under development and will be announced later.

4. Can other cards like JCB, UnionPay, or smart devices like Apple Watch/Smartphones be used?

System development is ongoing. Support for other card networks and smart devices will be announced once ready.

5. Why does Mastercard show a 1 Baht charge on the first use?

6. Which MRT lines accept EMV Contactless cards?

They can currently be used on the MRT Blue Line and the MRT Purple Line.

7. Do I need to register the card before traveling?

Registration is not required; you can tap and go immediately. However, registering on the website later is recommended for tracking travel history and transactions.

8. Can EMV Contactless cards get Park & Ride discounts?

No. To receive parking discounts, you must use an MRT, MRT Plus, or Park & Ride card. The card used for parking and travel must be the same physical card.

9. What is the fare rate for EMV Contactless cards?

10. Can I add trip packages (passes) to an EMV Contactless card?

No, trip packages cannot be added to these cards.

11. Where can I check my travel history and fare charges?

Check via www.mangmoomemv.com or https://metro.bemplc.co.th/emv-contactless. Registered users can view 60 days of history. Unregistered users can view 7 days. Travel data usually appears within the same day. For incomplete trips (missing entry or exit), charges may take up to 4 days to process.

12. Can I check my EMV card history at MRT Ticket Offices?

No. These cards are issued by banks. MRT station staff do not have access to your bank card's transaction data.

13. Where can I register an account and add my card?

You can register at www.mangmoomemv.com or https://metro.bemplc.co.th/emv-contactless after the card has been used for at least one MRT trip.

14. Can I add a card that has never been used on the MRT to my account?

No. The system only accepts cards that have already been used at least once in the MRT system.

15. What information is required for registration?

Registration requires your First Name, Last Name, Email, and Phone Number.

16. How many cards can I add to one account?

One user can add an unlimited number of EMV Contactless cards to their account.

17. How can I edit my info or remove a card?

18. Can I use the card without registering?

Yes, but you will not be able to view extended history or file a 'Dispute' for overcharges. Refunds for overcharges are reserved for registered users only.

19. How can I check payment status or if my card is blocked?

Check payment status with your issuing bank. You can check if the card is blocked for MRT use via the website portal.

20. What are the steps to register and add a card?

1. Visit the website and click 'Register'. 2. Fill in your name, email, phone, and password. 3. Verify via Email OTP. 4. Log in, select 'Add Card', and enter card details. 5. Verify via SMS OTP from your bank. No money will be deducted during this process.

21. How do I check travel history?

Registered users: Log in to see history immediately. Unregistered users: Select 'Check Travel Info', enter card details, and verify via OTP to view 7 days of history.

22. How do I file a Dispute for a refund?

Log in, select the specific trip, click 'Request Refund', provide a reason/description, and confirm with an Email OTP. Results are usually processed within 14 days.

23. Where can I get an EMV Contactless card?

Contact any bank or financial institution that issues VISA or Mastercard contactless cards. If you already have one, you can use it immediately.

24. What if my card doesn't work?

Please contact your card's issuing bank.

25. Can I use a card that has been suspended by the bank?

No. Suspended or expired cards cannot be used. Contact your bank to resolve the status.

26. Can I get a refund or card replacement at an MRT Ticket Office?

No. You must contact the issuing bank for all card-related issues, replacements, or refunds.

27. Is there an EMV customer service point in MRT stations?

No. Since these are bank cards, please contact the issuing bank directly.

28. How many people can use one card?

One card per person per trip. You cannot tap the same card for multiple people on the same journey.

29. Can I top up or buy an EMV card at the MRT Ticket Office?

No, MRT offices do not issue or top up EMV bank cards.

30. How do I report an overcharge?

Check your history on the website and file a 'Dispute'. Results will be notified within 14 days.

31. What is the fee for staying in the system too long?

You will be charged the actual travel fare plus a 'Stay Overtime' fee equal to the maximum fare rate.

32. What happens if I forget to tap out or use a different card?

You will be charged the maximum fare on each card used. Always use the same card to tap in and tap out.

33. What if I paid the fare at the Ticket Office but my card was still charged?

Always keep your receipt from the Ticket Office. Use it as evidence to file a Dispute on the website.

34. Can I exit if my card balance is insufficient?

The system allows you to tap out once even if the balance is low. However, the card will be blocked for future MRT use until the debt is cleared.

35. If I cleared my debt with the bank, can I use the card immediately?

The system automatically retries collection on days 1, 3, 7, and 14. If you need it immediately, tap at an MRT gate and wait about 6 hours for the system to update.

36. What if my card is lost or damaged during a trip?

Contact the Ticket Office to pay the fare and exit. Keep the receipt to file a Dispute later to avoid double charging.
